A man was shot and killed by US Secret Service agents and a Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy early Sunday after breaching the secure perimeter of President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
The suspect, described as a white male in his early 20s, was seen near the north gate around 1:30 am local time carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a fuel can. When confronted by law enforcement, he pointed the shotgun at officers, prompting them to discharge their firearms.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither President Trump nor anyone under Secret Service protection was present at the property at the time.
The FBI, Secret Service, and Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office have launched a joint investigation into the incident, with the FBI leading the probe. The man's identity has not yet been released pending family notification.
